What course for counselling?

I would like to pursue a career in counselling and have been searching different courses. Due to family issues I don't think it would be possible to travel. I found this course close to where I live http://www.bife.ie/PLC Courses/pages/Phychology.aspx. I would be going back as a mature student.

Is this the right way to go re counselling?
I am wondering if anyone has completed this course, what did they think?

Any advice would be very grateful.

    Thanks

This is the first 2 years of a 4-year undergraduate degree through Open University. It only provides some modules.

Also I would advise checking with the OU that this organisation has any standing with them. I recall a similar organisation a couple of years ago offering something like this without the knowledge of the OU. I think it may have been me who contacted the OU about it, and they got back saying that they had nothing to do with the organisation and they stopped them from advertising it.

As JC said it is ultimately pointing towards an undergraduate degree in psychology. That is not a counselling qualification. One would need to then study counselling afterwards either counselling psychology doctorate (full time 3 years) or a counselling / psychotherapy qualification part-time 3-4 years.

You do not need a psychology degree to train in counselling.
