Seat Leon - Electrical Problems

    Hi,

    I have a Seat Leon 1.3 Petrol 2003 Car.

The last couple of days the windows on both sides at the front will wind down fully on their own, after parking up the car. Also, when driving, the sound similar to locking the car happens and this also happens when parked up.

Can anyone please advise on this? What can be done without going to car dealer.

    Thanks

I apologise in advance if this post comes across badly. I don't mean anything personal by it and I am just trying to advise you as to the easiest way of getting the problem sorted.

You ask what can you do without going to a garage? I assume you have neither the equipment or the knowledge to actually carry out any checks or tests to diagnose the problem. So where does that leave you? It leaves you posting a thread on here where you will get loads of suggestions which are basically totally random guesses as to what the problem is. You will then act on these suggestions and possibly replace various parts until the point where you will either get lucky and the problem will go away, give up and bring the car to a garage where they will locate and fix the fault or just live with the problem while complaining how you "spend a fortune" on the car and it still isn't right and how the electrics in those Seats have "a mind of their own" or similar nonsense.

My advise would be to take the car to someone who knows what they are doing and pay them for an hour of their time at which point you should know what the problem is.

If you insist on avoiding a garage then I may as well get in there with my random guess, which at least is based on experience of these kind of problems. I would say the most likely cause is the driver's door lock assembly.

Had to replace the drivers door lock. Found second hand one for €40 at scrappage yard.

    Fixed the problem
