Cannondale CAAD10

Hi all, I have a question.

Those of you who are avid followers of boards may remember I was considering a build but have changed my mind in favour of a complete bike.

I'm in the market for an upgrade and have my eye on the Cannondale CAAD10. However there are 2 versions available, the 2011 here:
    http://www.cheshireoakscycles.co.uk/m1b7s6p1299/-CANNONDALE-CAAD-10-105-Compact-2011

    and the 2012 available here:http://www.evanscycles.com/products/cannondale/caad10-105-compact-2012-road-bike-ec031694

My question is is there any difference between the 2 bikes bar the colour?

I have ordered the 2012 into my local Evans for a test ride next week but if if the 2011 model is the same I will buy that and spend the difference on a new standard 53/39 chainset, bottle cages etc..

The guy in Evans was very helpful but said the 2012 is a new frame but I'm not so sure and can't seem to find any info on it so I couldn't disagree with him.

    Thanks in advance..

Both are the same bikes except very minor details.

    Edit:
Actually the 2011 model is a better bike, as the newer one has Tektro brakes instead of the standard Shimano 105 in 2011 model, which are better calipers as far as I know.

Exactly as I thought. Thanks very much. I'll have a look at the one in Evans next saturday and then buy the 2011 model if I'm happy.

The reviews are excellent though and videos like this make me want one even more:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gv5ozXIE3U

Yeah, it is an excellent bike. I ride the 2011 model, but with Sram components which I put in instead of Shimano 105. If the price is the same for both models and you do not plan chainging components, get the 2011 model. If the older one is cheaper, then it's no brainer really ;).

have the 2011 one myself and its an amazing bike, great value tbh

Its great to hear good experiences. As I said the reviews seem great.

I thought if I was upgrading I thought would be going down the full carbon route.
However all reviews say this is at least as good as if not better than a lot of low to mid-range carbon frames and well worth upgrading in time.

I'd never build anything even close for £1020 and now that I'm forced to live in the UK for work reasons  I can avail of cheap or free postage.

i cant compare it to a carbon frame but everyone does seem to think that the bike is as good as low/mid range carbons, i find the bike very stiff which i love as it lets me accelerate like a bat out of hell :D it is a comfortable bike as well though

I wouldn't bother to be honest, unless you get a very good quality carbon frame, i.e. another Cannondale. I also have a carbon frame Cannondale and the difference is marginal. Yes, the SuperSix is that bit smoother, but the weight is almost the same and the price gap too wide to justify the carbon fibre frameset in my opinion. The ride quality of CAAD10 frame is really good and if you get a better wheelset later, you will not regret your purchase ;).

    Good Luck!

Really like the look of those CAAD10's. Wouldn't mind getting one as my new rothar!

In case you needed any more persuading http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/road/product/review-cannondale-caad10-105-12-45526

I think I have my heart set on the 2011 105 model now.

This shop has a special offer on 2011 bikes (i think), the offer is a better set of wheels, Reynolds shadows which are a lot better than than the RS10, check it out and maybe give them a call or use the offer to get a better deal at your lbs

I did look at that site alright but the price of the 2011 model with the Reynolds Shadow wheels is £1299 which works out at nearly £300 for the wheels alone. I feel I could get a better set of wheels for that price. (ie.http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;navigation=1;product=13968;page=1;menu=1000,4,123,30;mid=114;pgc=0)

It is my intention to upgrade the weels after a short time if I can afford it as my old bike (Trek 1000) has 2009 Ksyrium Elites on it an I am now used to a better quality wheel than the RS10.

Thanks for your help though :D

I was in the same situation, when I bought my CAAD10, so after a while I put my old Mavic Equippes on the bike. The wheels transformed it nicely.

Have been thinking about getting a CAAD10 myself is there any dealers in Ireland can't see any mentioned on the Cannondale website.

Try Cycleways, they used to have some Cannondales and they are probably the only dealer in the Republic that sell these.

After all that, just pushed the button on a Canyon Ultimate CF with Ultegra.

Really looking forward to getting back into it and hopefully it won't take too long to arrive. Thanks to all for advice though.:)

Didn't think i'd get a response after the last post being so long ago so excuse the lack of info.

Its a 56cm, roughly 4000 km on it. I'm in North Dublin. To gauge my price I saw a 63cm recently on adverts sold for €1250 with an asking price of €1400 with Ultegra. Mine has full 105 though.

New bike is €1800 so I'm open to reasonable offers. Cracking bike, just fancy an upgrade.

    Cheers

    Ronan

Stick it up for sale in the adverts section, it'll get more views/reaction.
