    Hi all,
bought a car on Monday gone and I am still waiting on change of ownership online,
my question is when the car is in my name can I tax it for the first time online even though the car has had no tax for a few months.
    Cheers

on the same day the log book arrives you should get a renewal form with an online pin code. This is what happen for me when i changed car recently.

no the first time you tax any car new or secound hand you must present logbook insurance and nct if required to your local motor tax office...
only when you are renewing your motor tax [after first time] will you get a renewal pin to do it online...

You can tax it online, it will only start from when you bought the car. I tried it and it worked, however I did not continue as I did not use the car for a month after buying, so I got it signed off. I think it is similar to the when you bring a car in you use the last 4 digits as the pin.
