In view of this "happening" http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0210/eircom.html

Can anyone think of any good reason why Eircom should be allowed to continue to participate in the Direct Debit scheme?

Because I don't want to have to go into a bank / post office every month to pay my bill

I'm with Eircom and pay mine by internet or telephone banking. That way I have control.

Direct debits mean that the originator has control. This is bad.

Yep I appreciate that. But I cannot be @rsed manually paying my bills every month when a dd will do it automatically.

Yep but when some fraudster gets a car loan in your name, clean out your credit rating and runs off with a load of your cash the banks won't be arsed to help sort it out.

Or in Eircom's case no control!

It is crazy for people to be so blasé about matters like this - if in any doubt read this http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/7326736.stm
