    Hi all
I am considering buying Madza 6, 2.0 litre petrol.
Has anyone any opinions on these fuel consumption etc?
I currently have a Madza 626 1840cc the most reliable car I have ever owned, nothing has ever gone wrong with it. So i am determined to buy another Mazda.
    Thanks in advance

    I have 04 Mazda 6 2.0 petrol.

Fuel consumption is as follows for me:

Rural Irish narrow bendy country road - 8.5 l/100km.
    City Driving - 10 l/100km.
Very gentle driving on open road with speeds of about 70 - 80km/h - 6 l/100km.
    Motorway driving at 120km/h - 7.5 l/100km.
    Motorway driving at 150km/h - 10 l/100km.
    Motorway driving at 200km/h - 16 l/100km.

    There is few.

    1. Brake calipers sometimes seize. I only got this car half a year ago, but previous owner said he had to change two of them. And he actually really did. He said he didn't have to fix anything else in that car.

    2. Steering wheel column lever - When I bought the car it was giving a bit of knocking sound. I browsed some internet forums, and found out it's very common with this cars, and very easy to fix. All you need is a bit of molybden grease to grease the part of lever which slides while you adjust your steering wheel. Took me 5 minuts and €2.5 to fix.

    3. Clutch at mine had a strange effect of vibrating while you are starting from first gear. I read as well it's quite common with before facelift model (<2005), but there is no reason to worry. You just have to live with it. My clutch eventually died anyway at 105k mls, but that's understandable as car was mostly driven in the city by previous owner for the last 5 years.

    4. Dip-lights adjustment brakes quite often on those cars. Unfortunately it's the case with mine as well. (the little roller on dashboard, which you use to adjust height of your lights depending on how loaded is the car). It's not easy to get it fixed anywhere. There is a manual somewhere on the internet how to do fix it yourself (DIY) but it's not very easy. You need new electrical engines for the mechanism as well, as it's them who are responsible for the failure, but you can use the ford ones which are cheap.

    5. Rust - that seems the be the biggest problem with the car. Mine is only 8 years old, but there seems to be a good bit of rust, especially on rear wings (just above the wheel) and overall on the bottom. I'll definitely need to do something with that, to secure it somehow.

    That would be it.
It might sound a bit freigtning in the first moment, as there is few things, but take under consideration that I'm a bit pedantic about the cars, and I must have them in perfect condition to be happy, so I'm looking at any detail.
All above faults are common with those cars, and tbh it's nothing serious.
    Beside everything works perfectly.
Car never had anything done with the suspension and even though it's got 110k mls on the clock, there isn't a single part loose in suspension (that's quite extraordinary).
It went through NCT few days ago without any fault.
I can only say, it's the most reliable car I've ever owned so far, and it's definitely the most enjoyable to drive (great suspension for bendy roads, and very comfortable inside).
