I seen this on Wikipedia, anyone have any more information on it?
The Local Government Commission has recommended an increase to the urban area of Dundalk to be implemented in 2012/2013 thus introducing Borough council status and replacing the existing Town Council. This will result in a further increase to the urban population of Dundalk by a projected 25,000 residents.

Less a replacement and more a rebranding with increased urban area to administrate? Wonder does it have anything to do with the the moving around or staff as reported in this weeks Argus. Considering the economics of such a move was recommended before troika we shall not see this for a while.

    ps it is wiki!!

Still can't understand why the smallest county in the country needs a borough council, 2 town councils AND a county council.

Surely a county council is sufficient, seems hard to justify all the staff and costs...?
