My fiancé's based abroad at the minute so I'm doing most of the ring-searching. I really want a coloured stone with none, or minimal, diamonds, but every single high-street jewellers only seems to have cluster rings. Any suggestions?

I'm really tempted to buy a bespoke ring abroad, but I'd love to buy Irish if I can. My ideal ring has a a decent-sized solitaire sapphire that's not in a claw setting. A few months ago I never thought this'd be tough to find, but now I know it is!

    I saw a couple in www.fields.ie and think I saw a couple on www.perfectring.ie.

I'm not sure where you are based, but I think I saw a couple in a place opposite kilkenny castle (there is a kilkenny design there and a courtyard with a goldsmiths in it). He is a primarily a jewellery designer I think, but sells some stuff he has premade in the shop.

An alternative idea is just to go to a jewellery designer and tell him what stone you want? Its not that expensive really.

I'm getting mine made, but was looking for ideas at the time of seeing the above. I'm getting mine made in Martins Jewellers in Wexford as thats where I live and want to keep the business local. Well hopefully, have arranged to meet them next weekend :)

Jewellery designer is definitely the way to go - better ring for less money and exactly how you like it.

Try the Design yard in Dublin, they do some fantastic designs and it's only a sample on the website.
