Internet not working properly

    Hi all,

I got a Dell Inspirion N5110 for Christmas 2011. It's been grand up to now but recently over the past week the Internet is ridiculously slow. I know it's not the broadband because the two other laptops in the house are working flawlessly, pages are loading no bother.

Any idea why mine is struggling? It's literally only about a month old.

Is the laptop generally slow or just the internet?

    What browser are you using?

    Just the internet. Google Chrome!

What anti virus do you have running and is it in date? Have you recently changed any settings or installed any programs?

It could also be caused by the programs on other laptops in the house, for example if someone is constantly downloading it will hinder your browsing speed, or even bring it to a halt.

Microsoft Security Essentials and yes it's in date. To be perfectly honest I'm kinda weary of it the fact it's free, I feel like it's not that good if you know what I mean? I've been considering buying something like BitDefender? I've installed Microsoft Office and downloaded a few songs. What kind of settings would I have had to have changed?

I'm aware of that alright, but sometimes it's slow even when all the other PC's are turned off in the house.
