really cheaply priced second hand at the moment, and very tempting! i know of all the crap that goes wrong with rextons, but i honestly dont know anyone who drives one of these. they arent the prettiest yoke on the road, and i have heard that they dont handle extremly well...that aside, whats that 1.9 daysul like? any recurring problems under the hood? any info will be much appreciated. in return - tits....

I heard they caused the vomiting bug they're that ugly.

On a sort of plus, don't they have Mercedes Engines ?

i know the rexton had the old merc engine, not sure about the kyron though.

Kyron is 2.0 so I doubt it! Although wiki says its a merc engine.

Were/are they not licensed Merc engines? ie they buy the plans and either make them themselves or have someone make them? Not exactly the same as buying Merc made engines if true.

a guy bought a car of me who had one, and sold it privately for half nothing to get rid after a terrible ownership experience. Oil leaks, Turbo issues, Gear box issues, windows packing up,you name it, they are cheap for a reason.

Avoid - a neighbour of mine has one and bought on the basis of that "merc" engine. Its an 04 with about 120k miles on it.
He has replaced all the injectors and he is on his second gearbox that he now reckons needs replacing, too. Albeit a second hand box that was put in to replace the original.
Anyway, he hates it and cannot sell it. There are a lot of other smaller issues too but I can't remember them.
    Cheap yes, reliable no.

I know a someone that has one from new. It needed major engine works at about 1 year old. No idea what it was though but they were without it for a fair while. I believe the engine is not built by mercedes although the person I know did buy because of the belief of the mercedes engine.
Apart from all that, they are ugly, not as ugly as the rodius but still ugly. I picked up the keys for it one day and I genuinely thought it was a childs play thing. It felt as if the key was empty, just a light plastic case. The quality doesnt improve inside the cabin either.

Avoid, avoid, avoid anything from SSangyong!

Totally unreliable. Cheap. Bloody ugly to look at. You will never be able to sell it on.

They are so ****e, whatcar only has one review for the whole company and that is for the Rexton!

Then just buy an old Pajero or Trooper. Sometime you get good value by buying smart (e.g. Skoda, Hyundai) and sometimes you don't (Ssangyong).

Missus has a sportage. Bought it new in 2007. fantastic car. No trouble whatsoever except a blown sidelight bulb this week. 65k miles on clock.

They are both in a different league to the ssangyong.

y'see , heres where my odd tastes come in to play...i cant stand the looks of the suzuki jeeps!! id prefer a kyron over a vitara (looks wise)!

i even considered a rav4 d4d but they are overpriced second hand, and i hear bad things about the dmf.
