Guy with guitar (Indie/Alt music) for wedding ceremony

Anyone have any advice about finding someone who plays indie/alternative music on guitar and sings that we could have at our wedding? Most guitar players I have found are classical musicians.

Really not the string quartet, soloist, choir kind of couple so would love to find someone who can play more alternative music for our wedding ceremony.
Would love to walk up the aisle to something like AA Bondy's Lovers Waltz

Also love Wilco and Billy Bragg's California Star and Mazzy Star's Fade into You

Anyone have any leads? Or are we going to have to resort to a CD :(

Word of warning. Some priests are very awkward when it comes to the music.

We are getting married in Dublin and it's not a catholic wedding so we can have whatever music we want

    Hey Little_a

I know this might seem unorthodox but pop along to some gigs in the city centre, see if there's any guy with a guitar that you like and have a word with him. Most musicians with the singer/songwriter vibe are always looking to learn new songs as well make a few extra bob so why not look into it! It's just a suggestion, but you never know.. your dream musician could be playing in some pub tonight in town! You sound like you know exactly what you want-so go out and see if it's to be found! :)

If you are still stuck after doing so, PM me; have a lot of friends who are in professional bands in Dublin but who started off with just themselves and guitar! :)

    Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply Aoife, that is a great idea. Unfortunately I am one of the thousands who had to emigrate for work, so coming back to my home town to get married! That's why any pointers or leads would be appreciated! I will keep asking around!

In temple bar 7 days a week from about 2pm theres a circuit of pubs who have a rota of 1 and 2 man bands who fit the bill for you exactly. Kind of guys who can play anything all day long,.

IIRC An agency called lasrach used to book all those players in if you can get in contact with them. www.lasrach.com is down for me at the moment but google around and you may get contact details.

    Little a, how're you?

I am a singer/songwriter with impeccable and distinctive vocals.
I would be highly interested in this.

I have a long list of beautiful songs that I can cover on request. I am a huge fan of Billy Bragg also.
If you send me an email, I can send you a few vocal examples/demos etc.

    When would it be exactly?

    Regards, Larss
