3 Mobile Broadband - wickedly awful.

    Morning all

About 5-6 weeks ago I took out a Bill Pay contract with 3 for mobile broadband. To cut a long story short it's turning into a fight to the death ( slight over-exaggeration) to have the contract cancelled.

I'm detailing the whole sorry state of affairs on my blog right now, starting off with the first letter of complaint I have written. There are 3 more to follow, including snippets of my telephone conversations with them. Today, they've told me I'm not using the service enough for them to run tests. Somehow, telling them that I don;t use the service because a 0.2mbps speed is not suitable. (try running websites and blogs with those speeds). Thankfully I have DSL installed now but I've never experienced anything so bad in my life.

Those speeds could not be considered to be broadband by any definition.

Their initial gambit towards me was that if they could manage to fix the speeds to 0.4 mbps I should be satisfied with that!!

It beggars belief that they can expect their customers to accept that level of service.

Read this thread. (S)He made a formal complaint and eventually escaped.

If you tried to cancel within 14 days and they would not accept your request that is what you must do.!

Hello Magslife. No matter how many 'Vodafone' masts you are close to, Vodafone only supply a 2G signal to Three - not a 3G (as far as I'm aware). So, unless you're close to a '3' mast, I doubt if you'll get a proper 'broadband' connection.

Thanks for this. I asked on numerous occasions within the initial 14 days + the extra 7 since the first modem was faulty and I kept being palmed off. I've also written/emailed now 3 times. THe advice so far is much appreciated.

Three customer service told me the same thing about 0.4 mbps being acceptable service a few years back, stunning service. Three can be really frustrating to deal with, hopefully you'll get out of the contract.

Make sure you cc Comreg or face more evasion and tripe. You may also refuse to accept phone calls from 3 IF THEY NEVER RUTURNED PHONE CALLS THEY PROMISED TO MAKE TO YOU in the past and demand that they deal with you in writing only.

What happened within the 14 day period is the most important fact. Any problems since are illustrative but not essential as long as you indicated a clear wish to avail of your right to exit the contract during the 14 day period.

Make sure you tell us how it goes.

Good letter, you should quote it in full here, the link added to My Favourites for future reference.

You should be able to find the nearest 3 Mast at www.siteviewer.ie not all masts are on it but its reasonably up to date.

An update on the whole saga is now live on the blog.

I sense a dirty scrap coming on with a few harsh words in the offing. I used a template, kindly shown to me by SpongeBob, as well as including examples of all previous correspondence with these numpties in 3Ireland.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but i also live in Dundalk and have just got the 3 Mobile dongle. I haven't plugged it in to try it, but now i have decided that i want to stay with Vodafone.

As i am within my 7 day customer rights, can i just cancel now and post the gear back to 3 Mobile so i am not tied into a 12 month contract?

well i feel sorry for you mate , i also have had nothing but problems with them they are great when your buying but not if you have a problem, i had massive problems with my phone contract with them and now with my broadband i was unable to use my broadband for the last year but was still paying for it ,when i cancelled the dd i started getting harassing phone calls from mombai upto 5 times daily 6 days a week, they want to charge me a cancellation fee for a product i am unable to use but will not take into account the 240 euros they were paid for nothing, its a sad state of affairs that i cant speak to an irish representative because the people in india are on a strict contract and probably getting paid peanuts for it and have no authority to make decisions. how they can put Ireland next to three is amazing, they are a sham of a company:mad:

Hi, I can reate to all the comments here. I've had a not to bad, bearable service from three for 8 months but for the last month im getting speed test results as low as 0.07mbps!!:mad: I've called them today asking them to cancel my contract with immediate effect so I don't have to pay for a service I'm not recieving. 0.07mbps is a far cry from what the sales team promoted when selling me my 60mb heavy usage contract.

This has really angered me and I would like to pursue this further with a consumer agency or small claims court, I'm just wondering has anyone else had any success in his matter?
