Firstly do you have a good general dentist that you trust? They may be able to do implants. Given that you say you need 5 top and bottom, it might be complex and a general dentist might refer you to a specialist.

Specialists for implants are either an oral surgeon or periodontist to place the implant, and a prosthodontist to place the crown (tooth) on top of the implant.
I need an implant myself and initially I did look at NI but this was back in 2008 when it was definitely much cheaper up there than in the south. Now I don’t think there is that much of a price differential so I wouldn’t be bothered personally.
Because a lot of general dentists will also do implants the price has come down a lot and I've found that specialists are not that much more expensive than general dentists.
Personally I would choose a specialist over a general dentist as I think it maximises your chances of a successful outcome although finding someone you trust is probably the most important thing.

You could look on the www.dentist.ie and search for specialists. Or some specialist dentists have websites and include their price lists. I think you're probably looking at €2,500 ish per implant but it might be cheaper for multiples.

Hope that helps a bit. I've PM'd you some names of specialists you could try. I've only had consults and not any actual treatment yet so can't comment on the quality of the work but I found them to be pleasant and have a good patient manner which always helps.

Not sure of any dental prices. I am also in need of an implant and have been quoted 3k. Not sure if price is good, average or bad???

There are lots of factors that might influence price.

If it’s a specialist it will likely be a bit more expensive than a general dentist.

There are different types of crowns so different lab costs to the dentist.
Also depends on which tooth you are replacing. If it’s a tooth that is visible when you smile then getting a good aesthetic outcome should be important and the crown will probably be more expensive. If it’s a back tooth that isn’t visible then this may be cheaper.

I think €3k is probably about the going rate for a specialist. If you shop around you could probably get it for less. A general dentist might be €2k - €2.5k.

The implant itself should last a lifetime. And the crown maybe up to 20 years (dentists might confirm that).
So while it does appear expensive initially at 3k, over 20 years at €150 a year, it's not terrible value.

Good information here op. Again, it all depends on the job and specification of job that is needed. I regularly do single tooth implants for much less than the 3k and on occasion much more than 3k depending on the time required to get the best result depending.....

Had a nice lady ring me today looking for a price for 4 implants for her husband. I have two options I can low ball her and have jack the price later or be honest and scare her off. Usually I get over technical and people get bored. :) It all depends on what you need. Each case is different, each persons demands are different. If you want to compare prices you will need to go for several consultations.

as I said before quality will be paramount and then price,I'm glad that prices between north and south are a lot closer than few years ago...
