    Hey

My Mac is having problems: past 2 days delayed response to opening applications/menu/finder - looks like menu trailing when opening

The dvd drive does not allow discks to be inserted - spits them out after attempt to read: hence can't run AHT from the dvd - nor can I reinstall

Once or twice it has told me the battery is dead in keyboard/mouse - they're full

Running Lion now 10.7.3. Machine shipped with SL but Lion on there since Lion launch day running ok

Its out of warranty so can't get assistance from Apple - any ideas on what is up and how to resolve/even run a diagnostic

Are you sure you need the disc to get into the hardware test when you have lion? Have you tried holding D when you start up?

I could be wrong, I'm still happily on snow leopard, but I thought that the hardware test was kind of "on the system" with lion.

I was thinking that but the system was formatted previously so suppose that would have wiped the partition - no sluggish anymore just ejecting all DVD/software disks/music cd.
