The seller says it is for a Canon mount. Yes it will fit the 1000D.
Not a bad lens for the price.

In short, won't work. Electronics in it weren't able to function on Canon DSLRs unless reflashed by sigma (not done anymore).

Google the model of lens for the info.

Don't buy unless the seller has sent it to get reflashed to work on digital slrs.
Will work on film slrs though.

The seller in the ad says he uses it with a 350D, so yes, it should work.

The description says it is the DG version so it should be ok for digital.

I use one on my Canon 500D and 50D. Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 APO DG

You can find this lense with different mount type ... so as long as it is EF mount ... for for the DG ...

from : http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/lenses/lens-tech.htm

DG (DG Lens)btn_dg.gifspacer.gifThese are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras whilst retaining suitability for traditional 35mm SLRs.
