    Hi

    Strange one,

I've got a car that was brought in north about 5 years ago.

It was cleared but never NCT'd.

Mechanical issues ment it has been parked up since.

When i am now to bring it to the NCT, wil I just get new 1 year NCT from this year?

Is the car over or under ten years old?

If over 10 years old it'll get a cert to the next month that corresponds to the date it was registered in Ireland. Ie if brought in in June you'll get a cert to this coming June.

If under 10 years old it'll be within a two year period of when it was registered in Ireland, ie if brought in in 2007 it'll be 2009, 2011, 2013 etc so if its nct'd now it'll run up to the date of reg in 2013.

    Hope you can follow me!

    It's unfortunately incorrect.

That would be true, if it was imported recently.
But 5 years ago rules were different, and it's due NCT from date of first registration in country of origin (not like now, where it's from date of registration in Ireland)

So f.e. if car was first registerd in NI on 15th October 2004, then it's NCT due date is 15 October 2012.

If OP would do a test now, NCT cert would be valid until 15th October 2012.
If he would do the test on 15th July 2012 or later, he would get a cert up to 15th October 2014.

    Hope this helps.
