Depends what you want it for, but regardless of that you could bikes of equal spec at full price for at least 200 euro cheaper if you look around.

Not good enough for racing and too expensive for whats on offer if all you want is a beater/comuter.

Go around to a few local bike shops if it is your first bike and you'll pick up something nice from clearance hopefully.

Really? Not sure you can get much for £299 new. Maybe I'm missing something obvious but what exactly is wrong with it? I thought it seemed like a good deal.

well Trampy- it's a nice looking bike- I think though that you would get a better bike for less. The halcyon is entry level but you would grow out of it very fast as you realise the components are ok but overpriced. Its shiny and has a nice paint job but that's about it. Also the RRP IS 499 NOT 1000. Rutland cycles shifts them for that- He's having you on.

There are plenty of good entry level bikes for sale 2nd hand. Bikes like the Trek 1.2 and 1.5 can be bought for around €500 and will still be worth close to that if you want to sell it next year. The Halcyon will devalue to about €250 as soon as you sign the delivery docket.

Frame size? Shouldn't that be on the description of the bike?

The bike seems ok but there is better value out there although I can't see you can't something much cheaper. You should try more established online retailers such as wiggle / Merlin / Evans / CRC / CSS and loads more if you do a quick search on this site for online shops.

I've had my eye on this one for a while as a commuter:

More then good enough as well for the sportiffs. Browse the shops and link to ones you like and you'll get some good feedback here. All the online shops are selling off the old stock at the moment with good bargains...

@OP, that bike u listed would be a serious rip off at a grand. At five hundred it's ok but not world beating. It's also got an aluminium fork when you really should be looking out for carbon.
