    Hi there,
I want to send in a photograph of my art to a magazine which states it must be 72 dpi or they will not accept it. On my camera I am using the lowest quality setting which turns out to be a photograph which says it's size is 966 kb. How does 966 kb compare to 72 dpi?

72dpi means nothing without specifying a size in inches

    and

966kb means nothing without knowing how many pixels you have

does the magazine say anything else apart from 72dpi? If not, they don't understand their own methods of printing

72 dpi (Dots per inch) only refers to the density of pixels or "dots" of colours across one inch of the photo. It has nothing to do with the size of the photo.

    they say
"Please email your images as attachments.
    - All files should be 72 DPI, RGB jpgs at least 10" (720 Pixels) tall
    - Label the jpegs with your name and a brief title with no spaces like this : "Your_Name_Title.jpg"
all i know really is how big the image is by kb size..

Sounds like they have no idea what they're talking about....

    Check the properties here -

...anyway a 996kb Jpeg will be well over the 720 pixel minimum height.

    (720 Pixels) tall

That's the bit that makes sense.

Most still camera will produce JPEG images with a resolution greater
than 720 pixels tall. For example: 1280x720 is a standard size and
    aspect ratio.

What kind of camera are you using?
