Applemail unconnected to iphone mail

    hi

    have just got my macbook air and connected my ted my zone account to the mail option on the dock (my zone is hosted by gmail)

    when i check my mail on my laptop it is marked as read but when i check on my iPhone later it isn't 'marked as read' and comes up as if its a new mail.

    can anyone tell me what to do?

    I don't know what your zone account is or why you call it ted.

    Anyway, you haven't told us what operating system you are using (Lion?)
    Lion supports "cloud" synchronisation. Previous OSX does not.

    Sounds like you are using POP3. You need to connect to the email account using IMAP.

    eh just got the iMac and its brand new? So, Lion.

    OK cool, I really have no idea how to go about that. I am using POP i think, how do i switch?
