was making an enquiry to the organic section in johnstown castle today about a late organic payment , and they said it will be held until they come to a decision, as in the last few weeks they have deemed it to be recieving double payments if you are in organics and the new aeos scheme i joined both schemes in 2010. there was no mention of this at the time of joining or is it in the small print has anyone heard anything about this new development??

There have been rumours going around for the last week. Did you choose the Species Rich Grassland or the hay meadow options? in 2011 you weren't allowed choose either of these if in the OFS but you were permitted in 2010. They seem to be trying to change the rules retrospectively. Worringly there are suggestions that there will be a blanket ban on Organic scheme participants joining the AEOS, even though all of these farmers have received acceptance letters and would have spent money fullfilling their side of the contract.

its seems like as a simple case of contract law , in which the department /eu are not fufilling their obligation/ farmers are ,about 150 people are affected directly not to mention those new recruits you mention above i choose specific grasses and traditional hay meadow options planted 10 trees , how do you think it will pan out?

The latest news is that organic farmers who joined AEOS in 2010 will not be paid on either species rich grassland or hay meadows options from here on but the money they received on these options for 2010 and 2011 will not be clawed back. Letters going out to these farmers re alternative options.
