What's the dealio with this place? There's something like 5 courses and they play on 3.

I plan to learn more about each course this year, should enhance my viewing and give me a great insight into what the players face.

I'll do my own research also but no harm in running a thread. I like shiny pictures too

Can't view it here. Can you describe it in detail to me please?

One of the courses they used to play it on way back when was Cypress Point. Now there's a golf course.

It's just a flyover of the first 9 holes at pebble beach with commentary about trouble on the hole, where to hit it, where not to hit it, what clubs are generally used etc.

    Thought so

I find it hard to gauge a tee shot from the tv. I then rely on the commentator's remarks. Be good to have a proper idea of how tight the fairway is etc....

If you embed that link I can view it, although I am outta here in 15 mins. Have a lesson at 5:30. Forgot to do my homework, again!

Apparently, to play Pebble Beach will set you back over $1,500, between Green fees and compulsory accommodation costs. I called in there last year. Their prices are just outrageous.

$500 is the green fee. You can only guarantee a tee time more than 24hours in advance if you stay at the resort. Played it during the summer and had no problem getting a tee time; you do have to be a bit flexible though.

Played it for $500 myself back in 2008. Amazing experience & worth every penny.

Fado Fado...mad money but a lifetime of telling tales about it.:):):) Another bonus is that if a pal is dropping you off then they can drive the famous 17 mile drive around the headland for free - a pleasure denied to others unless they are residents in the area.

Definitely mad money but luckily enough work is paying for me to get to Cali so at least that takes the edge off the cost of the trip! Looking forward to it but definitely need to get in with some practice, it's only the last few weeks that I've been able to get back out again

Well anyone can drive it, but it's like $20, no? Incredible place, Poppy Hills, Spyglass Hill, Spanish Point, Cypress Point, Pebble among others all on the same headland. Carmel is a nice little town too.

Oh! Didnt do the drive myself but that's what I was told. In any event the whole Monterray Peninsula is truly awesome and yes Carmel is dandy. A must visit if you are ever anywhere near San Fran and have time to journey down

Or you could just do like we did and tell the guy at the gate you are playing and off you go :)

Stayed in Monterey for a few nights the last time I was over and really liked the place. Didn't realise you had to pay to get on 17 mile drive, but it's well worth it.

Drove around some of the course a number of years ago and it looked really good. The place is AWASH with the filthy lucre.
