Im on jobseekers allowance and have being accepted to do an online learning Springboard programme for 5 months which means i have to fill in the Back to Education programme form.

I would also like to get on the job-bridge internship scheme pretty soon when i fulfil the 3mths on benefits criteria.

Anyone know if it possible to do the two of them while keeping jobseekers allowance? The lady in welfare office i could sense was fobing me off with a wishy washy answer.

    Thanks.

Yes, provided the Springboard course "does not have an adverse impact on the internship."

Can I participate on education and training courses while on the internship?
Interns on JobBridge, may engage in education and training provided by the Host
    Organisation
or part time education and training courses, irrespective of length and which are
    paid for by the State
provided that it does not have an adverse impact on the internship.

Interns on JobBridge, are not eligible to access:
    • full time education or training courses paid for by the State,
    • Other Department of Social Protection initiatives such as the Back to Education
Allowance and the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance

The above guidelines are for the Internship, it doesn't seem that there would be a problem from the Internship perspective.

However to remain eligible for payment on Springboard you must also remain available for and looking for full-time work. Your local office may take the view that between the internship and the course that you are no longer available for full-time work and no longer meet the Springboard criteria. While this shouldn't affect your payment (which will by paid through the Internship programme), it may affect continuing on the Springboard course in subsequent years (if your course is longer than one year).

You should run this by your local office before doing anything or contact expert advisers such as the Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed 01 856 0088

What do they mean by adverse effects?
Springboard courses are paid in advance

What do they mean by adverse effects?
Springboard courses are paid in advance to the colleges.
So getting a job.won't stop you finishing the course

It might if the job/internship is on at the same time that your course is!
