My PS3 has started to act up recently. When I start it up it shuts down straight away and the red front light starts flashing. I have to unplug the power and wait a while then restart to get it working.

Dose anyone know if this can be fixed.

You'll probably need to get it re-balled. I'd the flashing red light on my first one. Emailed Sony and they just said it means there is a total system failure.

What model PS3 is it? If it's anything other than a 60GB launch model, you may just get a new one. Reballing is expensive, avoid reflowing, they're totally different.

    Consoles today

Just happened my 60gb (launch model) console tonight.

Is it worth repairing? What are my options?

This was happening to mine(would turn off on start up and red light would blink).

My mate works with a guy that was able to take it apart and redo solder joints on the boards inside, or something to that effect.

It's working fine since I got it back, 60 gb launch model I have.
