    Hi all,

I'm hopefully completing my ACCA qualification in June ( depending on next Monday!) I'm planning on sitting three papers - P3 and 2 of the options. I'm totally ruling out P6 but undecided which 2 options to do p4 and p5,p4 and p7 or p5 and p7? I don't have more interest in one over the other anyone of them is a contender. Im really looking at who are the best lectures in these subjects and what people think is a manageable combination including that i must also do P3. I'm in the Cork area so will be going to college in Griifth or Independent or both depending on lectures - wherever the lectures are better for the subject I choose. For the december exams I attended both independent and griffith and feel I got the best lectures for each supject I chose (4 - F4 F5 P1 P2) I'm hoping i'll be as lucky this time round.....So if anyone has any advice/suggestions i'd be more than grateful....Thanks a mill!

I did P4 & P5. I enjoyed P4, it’s a follow on from F9. It basically covers the same topics but goes into greater detail. The course is straight forward but lengthy and requires a lot of study. I went to Independent and had Liam Doran for this subject and got it first time. He’s a very good lecturer. In terms of P5, I just sat it in December and hope to God I pass it. It was a pretty straight forward subject which seems to follow on from P1 & P3 with a few extra topics. Personally speaking, the subject required probably half the effort which I put in to P4 however the global pass rates are similar. I think the reason is more to do with students failing to pick up on the specific requirements in the q’s rather than not understanding the topics. That being said there was however a rotten part in Q1 in the Dec sitting for 19 marks which threw everyone. I also studied this subject in Independent, I had Mick Bristow, he was ok but in fairness it was a boring subject which doesn’t offer much value outside of the exams. Fingers crossed thou for a pass and hopefully no more exams for a long long time!

Thanks for the reply saggart26, I had Liam Doran myself for P2 and also thought he was an excellent lecturer, unfortunately he does not lecture in Cork for P4 :( Having looked at the way the timetables are in Griffith and Independent it looks like cos i want to do three subjects i'll have to do P5 or else they're clashes. Vering towars doing it in Griffith as i had Jim Daly for F5 and he was very good, has anyone done p5 in griffith last year with Jim Daly and Susan O'Flynn and what did you think? Now my choice is Obviously between P4 and P7 has anyone had Patrick Carrie for P4 or Michael Donnelly for P7 and what are your thoughts?

Hey Yellow Tulip, sorry to drag this up again - just wondering if you choose Patrick Carrie or Susan O Flynn and how you found them? I'll need to decide between them for a revision course for P3 and have no previous experience of either so would really like to know your thoughts...
    Thanks

you've probably decided now but for what it's worth i did p7. Although I failed with 47 i think it's doable, didn't go to any lectures, that could have made the difference. Time management was as usual a problem for me. The difficulty with this subject seems to be those identified earlier in other subjects, that is students not answering question requirements. The examiner seems to be very specific on the points that need to be made. But if you made a decent go at the first auditing paper it's very manageable.
i have to decide between one of P4/P5/P6. Anyone done P6 that would recommend it? It seems to have a reputation of being difficult but has one of the highest pass rates generally..cheers for any advice
