Down to £549 on Amazon - if you've been looking at Plasmas and are happy with shipping via deliverme etc this could worth a look. Worth reading up on the terrestrial forum about Panasonic service to Irish customers re:SW updates as you will have some Saorview compliant issues - but if you want a 50" plasma and are happy with a saorview box then you will not get a better value unit.

That's a nice TV for a good price but the new 2012 "50" range of Panasonic TVs are due out before the Summer so I'd expect all of last year's "30" range to see big price drops over the next few months.

Thats a really good deal IMHO. I bought the 42" version earlier this year for £499 and used deliverme.ie to ship it (an excellent service). Brilliant TV and have had no issues with saorview or anything else for that matter. The 42" is now £569, so the 50" is a great deal - and I would suggest one that will not last long. I was looking to buy local after xmas in the sales, but what was on offer was crap compared to this.

I've been pleasantly surprised at what it can do:
    - Can record directly to a HDD
    - Can pause live TV too with the HDD set up
    - Can play a lot of movie formats (from a PC as well as from a USB)
    - Saorview perfect, as is saorview text. I read that forum and know there were issues with panasonic TVs in the past with saorview, but my eyes are telling me this model is fine (might not certified for it, but it works) - unless I'm missing something.

It's actually cheaper in your local Currys when you factor in the €44 delivery charge from Deliverme.

It's not available online, but their instore price is €700 delivered.

Are you sure its the 50G model and not the 50S ?
Edit:Seems its the G model allright ,its £549 in Currys in the UK.
Thats a savage tv for 700 bobs, its the top model in the 2011 range.

Btw Panasonic are offering a 5 year warranty on selected Panasonic tvs until the end of February.

Are you guys sure its available for this price in Ireland? Just looked on currys.ie and while the 50" version is not on there the 42" version is €829 (here). UK in general is a LOT cheaper for TVs I believe.

Yup. Was looking at it myself in my local Currys at lunchtime. Very impressive set.

There's a thread about it in the Currys' Forum

Thanks Soarer for the confirmation and the link. Thats a fantastic deal from Currys too then. I might be wrong on this but I think the extended five year warranty another poster referred to was not available on the TV when bought on line from amazon - it should be available if buying instore in currys ... worth looking into if anyone is considering a purchase.

That could be true allright as I think you must get a form stamped by the retailer.

I dont think Richersounds deliver 50" tvs??

When I was buying my Panny 50" VT30 there was an issue with delivery! So I had to source it locally!

"This promotion is offered via Participating Retailers only" - Currys not on the list

This isn't the top model of the 2011 G range, there's a GT above this model which comes with 3D and built-in freesat. I'd expect the GT model to be the next to get a price cut.

They delivered one to Dublin for me - not sure if or what the delivery charge was, can always ask them in their boards forum.

Meant to say top 2D model.
3D is a gimmick to be honest.

I see the TX-P50G30B is gone up to £739 now (edit: actually this is not from amazon but from a reseller - looks like amazon themselves don't have the 50 inch), but the 42" version TX-P42G30B (edit: from amazon) has come down and is £499. Got one at that price in the new year and am delighted with it.
