Saw a nice Golf Tern 1.4 M5F 80HP with around 50k on it. Price 11995e. Is it worth this?? Do ye rate the car?

Depends on how old it is

They're quite underpowered. 12 grand is a lot to pay to go so slow.

Its a nice comfortable, well built classy car and most of them are nice to drive except the 1.4 petrol which is very underpowed

Its 2009. First time I drove one but thought it was powerful enough.

I suppose if you dont mind the small power then it is good value for an 09 golf

    Classy... seriously?

I drove a Mk5 a few years ago and thought it was very rough and unrefined. They're very basic inside, any of my friends who have a VW think an arm rest is an expensive extra on a car!

The golf is very comfortable compared to focus and auris

Just opinion really. I find the focus more comfortable. All depends on how you feel sitting in the car.

Compared to what? Or is it the TSi version?

It wouldn't be a tsi, they start at 125bhp.

What is M5F? Is this it?

    "M5F" means five speed manual.

The 1.4 is pants, and besides the Golf is an overrated car in my opinion. It's not a bad car by any means, but I can't see what makes it so special compared to the Focus or the Astra apart from the fact it has a VW badge.

The 1.4 will be expensive enough to tax too if it's a 09 reg, as anything from 08 onwards will be done on emissions, and that system favours diesels and the newer TSi petrols.

    I'd have to agree.

If that's your budget, have you had a look at the SEAT Leon 1.4 tsi 125 BHP?

You'd get more for your money and that tsi motor is very nice indeed. ;)
