Hi all, I have a 2008 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi, when I press the key fob twice (to dead lock the car) there is a horrible grinding noise, can anyone advise?

Sounds like the locking mechanism is worn and possibly on the way out. Bring it to a Ford garage and they should be able to diagnose that for you.
If it is that then the locking mechanism on whichever door it is (can you pinpoint where the sound is coming from?) will have to be replaced. Not the cheapest job but not excessively expensive either from what I've heard.

And charge you handsomely for the privilege

A Mk2 Focus is a common car OP, there is no need to pay main dealer rates. The problem should be easily diagnosed by a good independent at a much lower cost than the main dealer.

    Bring it to George then.

No need for the rolleyes either...

Easy guys, don't be quarreling lol, thanks for the replies, I brought it to a Ford garage this morning, it's the drivers door locking mechanism alright, they quoted e180 for the job.

Would an independant garage be cheaper and would they have the parts?

If so could you recommend a good mechanic in the Celbridge/Maynooth area?
