    Hi all,

Looking for a bit of info about the wheel on my plough, its a KV EG85 4 sod reversible.

When my plough turns over the wheel falls with a serious thud which shakes the whole plough and I am just waiting for something to break. I am assuming the shock absorber has failed.

Anybody know anything about these shock absorbers ?
Are they oil filled or do they compress air ?
Can they be repaired, or they easy to repair?
Are replacements or equivalent third party units available ?

    Any info appreciated

    Cheers.

They're filled with gas as far as I know, the same principle as the struts that keep the back window open on a tractor. A new one is cray money, around €480 plus VAT if memory serves. Try getting a second-hand one somewhere, there's a fella in Wexford who breaks Kverneland ploughs and he might be able to sort you out. I think he advertises in the Journal most weeks, I can't remember his name but I might be able to dig it out somewhere. I'd sort it out ASAP thought, I've seen the bolts that hold on the entire wheel assembly shearing off because replacing a broken strut was put on the long finger.
