Hello , im looking to make some commentary videos about current affairs , pop culture ,sport , movies and such . Being able to use clips from the web would be handy.Im afraid im a bit of a noob and I dont know how to do this. Is there some software that will allow me to download and edit clips from youtube and other sites such as RTE ?

Keepvid.com for YouTube and other sites.

The RTÉ streams are encrypted so your kinda snookered there. (basically don't bother trying)

Although you could capture the screen/audio but that's another thread.

    Also, keep copyright into account.

I've tried that before but I cant seem to get any version to work properly.
It never seems to playback correctly , i get the images but only in one corner of the screen . I think I need to change graphics settings or something .
Which one would you recomend for a bit of a thickie like myself ?

Turn off the hardware acceleration on your video card while you capture. It's the video overlay getting you there.
Erm I've used Techsmith and Camtasia in the past. Been soom time now.

No talk on RTMP encrypted video downloading please :), unprotected video content such as most of Youtube is ok
