Ok my hp 3 in 1 no longer printing because new updates won't allow it to print with fake cartridges. So on the lookout for something new I'm part time self employed and for that would be printing maybe 40-60 pages weekly.

A shop in Tralee are running a deal on a brother printer with 12 refills in the year for€150 following year ink costs €79 for the year.

Kodak printers claim to be economical to run also

    Any recommendations?

Could you not uninstall the new driver and revert to the previous one? If you have the Driver disc that's what I'd do anyways.

You will need to disable automatic updating of printer drivers.

Well deleted old drivers, reinstalled & printer now working.

Can't find where to disable automatic updates though : (

Don't look at me! I'm no techie.

With my HP4380, I can open Photosmart Essentials, click on the Settings button, choose the General Overview, and I can see an option to enable or disable software updates.

Is it possible that the driver updated itself before you disabled the option? You might have to uninstall/reinstall again - staying offline until you have updating disabled.

That's what I think must have happened so installing it again now and have Internet switched off-posting this from my phone at the moment ! Fingers crossed.

It must be difficult to post from your phone while your fingers are crossed!

True. But the world seems a fairer place if people give as well as receive.

you could also block port the hp updater uses on your router too :P

You could add 127.0.0.1 hp.com to your hosts file (look here), this will block any internet access from the HP site, that is, assuming HP updater is pulling updates from hp.com.
The only downside to this is even trying to go onto hp.com via your web browser will be blocked. Alternatively setup your firewall to block all HP software access to the internet, this would likely be the best method
