    I shoot with a .17 hmr but my father used to shoot vermin with an air rifle years ago and still to this day reckons it was some of the best Craic he's ever had with a gun gettin up close to your quarry is half the sport pullin the trigger is the easy part

    Its the fact air rifles are treated the same as firearms that's the problem. Going though the hassle of the licencing system one may as well go for a .22 or hmr as get an air rifle for the practical advantages they bring in power and extra range. If they were like in England I've no doubt most people into their shooting would have at least one air rifle.

    I know John but you can only use an air rifle around a farmyard and buildings which is if you have done it a very good way of shooting. I suppose like most things you have to experience it to understand. You could possibly see more vermin around a farmyard in a few hours, than walking tens of miles across farmland and mountains.....i know as i have done plenty of both.

    i got mine for that very purpose,it is good craic and cheap,but i may have to get rid of it as its using up a license
