Training/Racing carrying a cold

    I have comedown with a slight headcold this week (it's not man flu!). Usual symtoms- blocked nose, laboured breathing etc.

    I tried to run an easy 8 mile yesterday morning and had to stop twice due to poor breathing. I could not get my HR above 155.

    I have a race coming up this Saturday, whats the best thing to do;

    1. Man-up and train/race through the cold.

    2. Rest-up and clear the cold compeletly before training again.

    Thanks

    In my sorry experience, and others, see here, I'd be waiting for it to clear, see this thread.

    Forget about the race as your not going to be in a condition to give it a 100% and that will annoyed u.

    Thanks for that. I searched boards before posting but could not find anything. My mult-disipline race is pretty short-approx 90minutes long but at very high intensity. I won the last event and based on how i am feeling now I would perform below-par.

    BTW do you think an easy low intensity run would be ok to do?

    Thanks for the link.

    See how you are on the day. I would take it easy between now and Sat and judge on the morning. Loads of water, sleep, cold medicine etc.
    Sample size of 1, but I have trained through loads of colds and raced with some and come out fine.
