    Hi all
Will be bringing a Youth Club to Longford during the summer (for the Hype festival if any of ye have heard of it ) Anyway looks like we will be travelling up the day before (Friday )and maybe even staying the day after (Sunday ),Was wondering if anyboby could/would recommend any places or attractions that could help me entertain a 16 strong group of 15-17 years olds plus leaders in and around Longford Town or County even .
I know its a bit early but these things take a bit of organising and any help or advice would be gratefully recieved .

Ps Any info on the hostels or camping sites around the area would also be great .

    Thanks

    Hi!
I live in longford and I'd be happy to help you.
There are a few things to do in Longford which might attract your group. There is a public park and it has a leisure centre (swimming pool, basketball, astro-turf, gym). There is a cinema, bowling alley, pitch and putt, paintballing, a youth club, a fair selection of shops and some good places to eat.
As regards to hostels/camping, as far as I know there are no hostels in the area but there is a friendly scouts club who would be more than happy to help you out.
A word of warning, the town can be a bit rough around the edges at times but sure thats the case everywhere. I'd say that due to the fest being on, the town will be on good behaviour though.
    Hope this helps.

There's an assault course in killoe about 4 miles out of the town that could be a good bet. If ur into the outdoors u could hike up cairn hill or around the Forrest in Derrycassin ...

You should definately go to the public park for half a day anyway! As you read above, there's a brilliant swimming pool, gym, indoor and outdoor basketball court(s) and 3 astro-turf pitches.
Midland Karting is also 10 minutes outside of town. A bit pricey but brilliant fun! :)

    Hi!
There is a town called Ballymahon about 25mins from the main town and there are some water activities like Kayaking, they do groups and it's a lot of fun.

    This is their page: http://www.innykayakers.com/
