Downstairs Radiators Cold

Hi, can anyone help. I have 4 downstairs radiators with are stone cold, all upstairs and attic as well as remaining 3 downstairs radiators are hot. I've opened all balancing value's and bled the rads no joy. However when I turn off all the hot rads the cold one's get hot, when I turn back on the the rads which were off I'm back to square one 4 stone cold rads.

Point to note, in 2006 I added a double extension to the house, the boiler was replaced at this time, the rads downstairs which I have the problem with are from the original house, the other 3 downstairs rads are from the new build. There would be a mixture of both new and old upstairs which are both working?

Is it the pump? I have a mynute 20e boiler the pump is inbuilt?. Thanks in advance.

    Well.
There should have a 'CH system balancing' been done when the extension was connected. And this should have been done when the new boiler was installed.
And opening all balancing valves is the oposite of balancing, it is called unbalancing.
Get a heating engineer in who should balance the entire CH system, not only the radiators.

    @ the moderators:

The hydraulic adjustment of wet CH systems ("balancing") seems to be coming a topic at boards.ie. Plenty of first time posters asking the same questions....

Is it worth it to open a "sticky" - thread ? Or would that hurt vested interests, demanding to much attendance?
    Thanks.

Unfortunately it's not uncommon with add ons to a heating system to effect the performance of the original system.
If done properly there would be no issues and balancing the system would be a easy process, if done incorrectly then balancing is near impossible, the best thing would be to find a decent plumber to check the original job, trying to balance the system yourself could end up with you chasing your own tale:)
