Some nice footage of the Aer Lingus Retrojet in Cork yesterday. They seem to be doing a good job of sharing her around the bases. She was based in Belfast for alot of January and now seems to be back in Cork for a bit, having done the odd stint in DUB.

Nice.Haven't had the pleasure myself yet. They don't even have her a year yet. She was delivered on February 25th last year. Only a baba :D

She's great, did the Cork - Gatwick trip on her on Monday.

I think these retrojets are fantastic. the Lufthansa A321 is very smart too. I'd love to see a BOAC 777 and a BEA A320, come on BA! The BA 757 is parked at LGW.

When the queen was shaking hands with the president at Cork the retrojet took off behind in full view of the cameras, lovely bit of scheduling by Aer Lingus there.

Don't forget the Queens flight had to wait to backtrack because a Ryanair 737 was landing. Two great bits of free publicity for Irish airlines.:D

A BOAC 777 would look incredible I'd say. Are there any 777 retro jets anywhere I wonder ?

I flew back to Cork that day on the 2 o'clock from Heathrow. We must have been racing to get back and out before the queen arrived as we skipped the takeoff queue at Heathrow and seemed to go noticeably faster than usual on the trip back!

All to no avail though as the airport roads were closed just as I was leaving the car park :-(

Can we take it from that so that perhaps Heathrow ATC were cooperating with Cork ATC, in getting the EI machine landed and parked before HRH's plane moved?

Maybe, I don't know for certain but it was noticeable that we didn't seem to do the usual step climb out of Heathrow and the flight itself seemed a fair bit shorter than usual - I wasn't the only one to notice it and I've been doing the same flight for over three years - and we must have skipped more than 10 planes on the way to the runway. Wish it could happen every week!

Anyway in the event HRH's 146 had to wait for a landing Ryanair!

Becase of where the Aer Lingus stands are at LHR, their flights frequently avail of an intersection departure. The runways there are 12,000 feet long so, for a short flight, takeoff from an intermediate points is no problem. As for the lack of a stepped climb, that will have been possible only because of an absence of conflicting traffic, I would suggest.

It is indeed a nice looking aircraft, but I have to say that I'd be sad to see the green and blue disappear from the fleet, there is something very striking and distinct about the fleet colour that marks the EI fleet out from just about everyone else out there, and it does look good, regardless of which aircraft it's on. The ATR72's look much nicer in EI colours than they ever did in Aer Aran colours.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Absolutely agree with you. It's one of the most distinctive liveries out there and really shows up well when you see it somewhere like Heathrow or Schipol. Don't think there's any fear of them getting rid of it.

Flew on her last week, was surprised to see her pull up at the gate. Nice, clean, spacious "airy" cabin, seats slightly more comfy than usual AL (prob just less worn) Very nice trip.

Feck it, may as well throw up the video I managed to snag of her initial arrival last year, she went straight into the hanger and wasn't seen for 2 days after this:
