    hi,

this might sound like a strange question, but....

my wife is employed in my family business. we have just started online filing for p35s.

going through the process, it appears that a date of birth, address, pps no is required. for lots of reasons, she does not want it known around the family exactly what age she is.

is a dob mandatory? i suggested to her that we simply pluck one out of this air if it's really really required, but would this cause issues when the revenue computer sees a different dob than they have already on file (elsewhere in the system, for example)

    thanks

Date of birth would be required if you did not have a PPS for her.

Would you infer from that that it is ok to leave it blank? (that's what I understand by it)

Yes. However if you want to double check with the CGs, email P35helpline@revenue.ie

If you're entering a PPSN there is no need to complete a DOB on a P35.

PPS number identifies the individual, DOB doesn't add anything to that.
