Apologies if this question has already been answered, but i was wondering if someone could help me.

I just got a rejection letter from Limerick Co. Co. there. I was applying for a grant as i am completing a masters course. I was applying for it as an independent student. I am 24 years of age. I finished my bachelor 2 years ago in June 2009.
I have worked for the last two years at just above minimum wage and earned around 24k.
I got refused the grand on the bases i havent been out of education for 3 years or more.
This is my first time very applying for a grant of any kind.

Is this the case and is there any other way i apply for assistance.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Patrick

If you were in college less than three years ago and dependant on your parents then, you would be counted as still being a dependant (mature) candidate.

Other sources of assistance include your colleges student assistance fund (though you may not be allowed to put that towards fees, double check it).

You could also try to get a bank loan or credit union loan, not ideal but it might be an option.

    one more question -

I left home when i was 18 to go to college in Limerick. I am from Dublin originally.

Would i still be classified as dependent on my parents in that case? Would that change my current classification now??

    Thanks??

No - Your classification doesn't change until there is a 3 year gap

The alternative is to contact limerick county council and ask them if they will accept an amended application based on your parents income

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
