When you click on new mail in 2007 the from address is empty and if you leave it empty it sends the mail as "me@mail.com".
You can enter another email address such as "workgroup@mail.com" However this has to be selected. Some other people in the user's office have the default entry come up as "workgroup@mail.com" but they have no idea how they did that as it just came that way.

Does anyone know how to change it?

Same issue in 2010 on new mail the default entry is "me@mail.com" Anyway to change this so that it defaults to "workgroup@mail.com"?

I know its a small issue but this question is kept being asked by end users.

I've googled it and the only answers are for multiple accounts on the same computer. But all of these users have just one account.

You set the email address in the account settings.

Choose account setting from Tools. Click on the account and then click change you can then see which email account has been set.

If you want more than one then add another and set one of them as the default.

Are you using Outlook as client and Exchange as server !?

AFAIK,with Outlook and Exchange: you have setup "Send As" in Outlook/Exchange,so when you compose a new mail,it gives you the option to send as that user OR on behalf of that user !!!

You can disable "From" field by going in to "New Message" , "Options" ... and uncheck "From" label !

    ...or...

Go in Mail profile setings and select whatever email account you'll need or want to be your default account, email address ! Close Outlook before doing it...

FSL that only works if there are multiple email accounts.

rolion that has to be done for each mail sent.

Thanks for the replies guys but this user just wants the default changed.

Is a default option...is ON or OFF,is per Outlook profile ,not per email sent in that profile !

    Good luck... :)
