Myself and my friend have decided to go interrailing after the leving cert.
We are going to get the 5 days travel in 10 days ticket.

We're thinking about going to Berlin, Amsterdam ,Prague, Krakow and Rome.
Including train ticket flights and accomodation the budget is about €1000 for everything.

We dont really have a clue what we're doing so any advice would be greatly appreciated.:)

Hey I went interrailing last year on that ticket, Amsterdam-Berlin-Prague-Krakow is good and doable in that time frame but Rome is a long way from Krakow and would involve numerous trains. From Krakow I'd recommend Budapest, it's a great city and you can fly home with aerlingus and I thing Ryanair have started flights there too.

I didn't do that route myself but I'd imagine you'd need overnight trains between those citys.

Also €1000 is a tight budget especially since you've chosen particularly expensive places. If you got the flights really cheap and had a very strict daily allowance you might manage it.

Rome is your wildcard there. Its very far from the rest of your destinations. Its also the most expensive on the list.

Personally I wouldn't be a fan of Amsterdam, I almost went there but from talking to a good few people, its not worth it for an extended period of time. Saying that, its just an opinion, others said it was the highlight. It would also be the most expensive to fly into I would say.

Like auntiebee said, I would say keep to Eastern europe seeing as you'll be in that neck of the woods to start with.

id start in amsterdam then go to berlin.

does that mean you have 2 days in each city?

i would scratch rome off your list and end in budapest.

went interrailing last summer for a month, and had a great time in budapest.
