    Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has ferrets I could use to rid my house of rats or know of someone I could contact? I spotted one yesterday in my kitchen and need something to get rid of them FAST!! I have heard ferrets are the best way forward in getting rid of them!!

I would be very grateful for any help with this please.

Buy a bucket of ''storm'' rat poison and make sure not to put it where children or other pets can get near it but somewhere where the rats can obviously get it!!! Its the most effective way to clear out a population of rats!!

A Neighbour of mine had rats in the house and got a ferret in to try and rid the place of them but after a few days he was still seeing the rats and the the smell coming from under floor boards and behind partitions etc of dead rats was unbelievable so I wouldnt recommend that method. Storm is good but you cant beat the good old fashioned Rat Trap and I guarantee you will rid the house in no time. More importantly find how they are getting in and block it up properly but only after they are all gone.

Storm does work s treat but the downside is that they can end up dead in a cavity wall or between floorboards. happened to the parents gaff. smelled for an age and stained thru the ceiling in sitting room cos they didn't realise what it was. if you do use storm use some pipe to place it in so pets or kids don't get at its, a small tip ;-) if you can borrow or buy a rat trap it'd save a mess.

Thank you all for d replies....I have bought 6 traps, storm poison n some enclosed trays....they r scattered all over the kitchen n where I think they might come in...hopefully this works!!

I am gonna get the professionals in after d weekend if I have no joy but I'm just wondering one other thing....I live in an end of terrace house with 4 houses on d terrace...do u think it would b worth asking d neighbours if they have noticed anything? The reason I'm staying this is because, if I get d profs in it might just b only solving d problem in d short term if they r travelling through all d houses....for all I know they could be nesting under someone elses house and just coming to mine looking for food!

    What do u think?

    Thanks every1 so far

The best rat killer i ever seen was a jackrussel. seen it kill 20 rats aprox in a slotted shed in under 2mins,they run, bite the rat shake it and runs to next without waiting to give them a chance.some got away through the slots but the next time dog went back he got the rest.
