    Hey guys,

    Hopefully someone can give me a quick and simple answer to this as I’m sure you’re used to dealing with this question over and over again. I’ve absolutely no idea where to start my own research other than here!!

    I need a new laptop. I was going to buy another MacBook Pro, but I REALLY don’t need one and can’t justify spending 1.2k on one just cos it’s pretty. So here’s what I do need;

    -the ability to browse the net and edit my website
    -run excel etc (this is a bit moot since everything does it)
    -do some LIGHT video editing (30sec to 5min clips a few times per month)
    -watch DVDs etc
    -sync with my iPhone and an iPad which I will be buying (with the money I save not getting a MacBook!)
    -transportability isn’t THAT important, it won’t be coming with me every day but it’ll get moved around a bit, and I’d prefer a relatively light non chunky one if possible
    -13ish inch screen is grand, but would be happy with 15.6 too

    I don’t think I’ve any outrageous requirements, but one of my biggest things is that I don’t want a cheap plastic-y feel. Which is why I loved my Macbook Pro.

    Price range… anything up to 700 bucks I guess.

    I don’t even know where to start with this so any pointers or recommendations would be really appreciated.

    Thanks all!
