    Hi!

I am travelling to Lanzarote next week for 3 days with a few friends: we have booked flights, hotel, car & racing bikes.
We will be staying in Costa Teguise.
We would be interested in doing 3 moderate to challenging days on the bike to different parts of the island.

Could you recommend three routes from Costa Teguise?

    I appreciate your feedback,

    Arequipa.

The coast road (cycle track near the airport) is a bit boring, but I'd recommend:
    1. Up the mountains
    2. Up the mountains
    3. Up the mountains

    Bring plenty of water :)

Actually, the guy in the bike shop (begins with an R in Puerto del Carmen....it will come back to me) gave good advice on where to go.

    Thanks for your replies:appreciate it!
    Seems like we could do:

    1) Haria to North: 10km climb up Mirador from village of Tabayesco.

    2) Timanfaya National Park

3)to SW & Toughest climb with some 14% stretches up Femes...

    Looks good!

femes is a category one climb when tackled from the Playa Blanca side. you'll get plenty of encouragement from drivers as you swet your way up! there is a beatiful cycle along the coast-including sea spray from waves from el golfo to playa blanca. i wasnt near costa teguise. i cycled through the national park but didnt enter into the pay zone which i did by bus many years ago which has a few nice drags! enjoy.......

I cycle in Lanzarote every year for two weeks, there are some great routes.
As regards your no. 1 route, unless you're very fit, I would advise cycling that in the opposite direction. It's less steep.
Similarly with your no. 3 route, if you do that in the opposite direction, you'll get the same fabulous views, but a less steep climb. As stated here, the climb to Femes from Playa Blanca is the steepest on the island.
As stated, it's usually pretty windy on the island.
Your no. 2 route is spectacular.
    Have a great time.

When I was there you could pick up a leaflet pretty much everywhere, which had all the cycle routes mapped on it, estimated time to do them, difficulty etc etc.

I'd look out for that once you land!

Will tackle those routes in the opposite direction as advised!

I heard about the cycling map prodeuced by the tourist office: will get it when i get there!

Must check out some of those 'rides' in Nandos!!

Just back after 10 days in Lanza, the wind was unreal this year, it made all of the above rides much more difficult, their was also a lack of sun which left it rather cool the only time I was warm was going up the switchbacks on Tabyesco as above it is the nicest route on the island another is up through Mount blanc and La Geria onto La santa and back via Timanfaya.

Their is a new Bike/rental shop opened last May its called BH pro action its before you enter matagorda from PdC on the left.
