    Are there any body features which indicate if a car is a;
    • 163bhp or 170bhp variant
    • SE model or not

I'm trying to trawl through poorly detailed ads.

Se will have chrome while the M Sport will have no chrome around the windows and will have a styling pack.

Facelift (mid 07) 5 series SE have a straight "line" in the front splitter like this:

Pre-facelift SE have a more 'segmented' one like this:
    138.jpg

Facelift cars have 4/5 LED 'lines' in their rear lights like this:

Pre facelift cars have 'normal' rear lights.

NOTE: AFAIK the engine upgrade to 177 bhp did not coincide exactly with the external facelift. There were a couple of months where the body had been upgraded, but the engine was not - or vice versa, I can't remember which. I *think* automatics with the 177 bhp got the new gear selector as below, but am open to correction.

M Sports have a very obvious body kit.

I think the LCi models have a chrome tail pipe, with it being darker on the pre-LCi models.

Usually a pretty difficult way to tell though with most exhausts looking the same covered in dirt.

The LCI models came out in March 2007 whereas the updated engine was not released until September 2007 in the E60/61.

It's very easy to tell the pre-LCI and post LCI cards apart,,,
Just look at the rear lights as detailed above.
Other examples are the dash and door styles.
There was a great example on some website with pics between the two of both interior/exterior shots but I can't find it at the moment.will post it up later on when I find it again.

aha..here is it...look at the door handles..easiest way for the interior.
.lol..It was me who actually asked the question on that forum...lol :D
Plus the touch sensitive buttons for the radio etc are only present on the post lci models
