Even hospital beds drink? You'd think they'd have some spare time for sick people

Maybe more people are drinking than doing drugs, and hence more injuries.

That's not an argument to legalise drugs. It's an argument to ban alcohol.

Instead of putting up the price of booze how about you slap a €200 charge on people who cant handle their drink and end up in A&E. That way I can still enjoy a few reasonably priced beers ( i wouldnt even call them cheap compared to european prices) and nobheads learn an expensive lesson on how not to drink.

I would leave the drunks to choke on their own vomit instead of taking up a hospital bed which could be used by a person who really needs it.

    Don't they already get charged €100 ?

Are there any stats on the numbers of assaults on staff in A&E ?

    Yeah we need drunk tanks

only if you abuse them like any other drug like alcohol, weed etc..

they are a godsend for people suffering from pain

I call massive shenanigans on the figure of 2000 beds being taken up every night by drinkers.

Number of beds in the following hosptials

800 - Cork - Largest hospital in country
750 - St James - largest hospital in Dublin
    550 - Galway
    522 - Limerick Regional
    2622

That's a sizeable portion of the country's hospitals.

No way 2000 beds are taken up by drinkers. OP hasn't provided a link either.

It must be visits to the A&E he means. Even at that, it seems a stretch as that would be 14000 per week. 2000 on a Saturday night yes, but on a Monday night?

I think OP has a chip on their shoulder, two different threads and they're still open?
