    Hi there,

Having a few problems with this,

Im using cs3, had a 30d up until a few weeks ago, never had a problem opening cr2 files while using this.

Having gotten a 5d mkii, i shot in raw and jpeg today but my raw files wont open in cs3. it tells me "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognise this file type."

did this happen anyone before and if so, can you give me direction where to go from here please?

    cheers

It's the old Adobe upgrade tax story, they only update ACR on the newest version of PS, and it's through updates that they introduce support for new camera models.

You have two choices, upgrade your version of PS or use the free DNG converter to convert your CR2's to DNG and work away with PSCS3.

Did you install the canon CD software from the 5d?
I have CS5.1 and when i drag a CR2 file into it, it automatically opens it in the Canon software program.

it's pretty lame, isnt it? i also have cs3. have to run all my 5dmk2 raw files through aperture first and then do whatever i want to them in photoshop :(

Yeah thats a bit of a nuisance, I thought a raw file was a raw file. Might look into a newer of photoshop instead.

@Kceire, I have all of the cd's installed but have not attempted to use them at all as not sure what way they work!

Lightroom 3 is relatively cheap now, and I'm pretty sure you can bounce a RAW photo over to Photoshop for more intricate editing in .psd format.
