No, the Nikon D800 spells the release of the 5DmkIII/5DX

I'm sure the new 24-70mm is a fantastic lens, but it's priced way too high, and those two new primes also seem fairly expensive for what they are.

Both those primes dont offer a lot even at the old price, looks like a major redesign on the 24-70 but no IS so not enough difference for about €600 difference

Surely IS was the obvious thing to include? Not sure why they overlooked that, when clearly they were working with it for the prime lenses anyway?

How there was no "eureka!" moment there, I don't know.

Not sure why a wide prime needs IS either. Obviously it'd be handy, though 2.8 seems a bit slow for a prime anyway (1.4 would make more sense, surely). Don't really see any of those lenses ever hitting my "to buy" list. Not even mildly curious about them.

A new, fast, telephoto prime would've been interesting, though (not necessary, but interesting). An 85mm L Prime that's cheaper/slower than the 1.2 would've been an interesting one (though better image quality than the non L 1.8).

Ah, sure, they obviously felt there was a demand for these.

Those primes are aimed at video makers thats for sure. Shorter and lighter than an 24-X lens around and prime for maximum quality at that range and now with IS. They claim that Should make a lot of video types very happy to have such quality in a neat form factor.

I dont get the subtle focal change between 24-28 but I guess the barrell distortion at 28 would be slightly less?

Either way I'm sticking to the old 24-70, this isn't enough of an upgrade for me.
