Just booked beachfront apartment in Sands Beach Costa Teguise Lanzarote for week in middle of July, have been to Puerto Del Carmen few times but never here, does anyone know is there much to do outside of the resort, is there nice restaurants /irish bars/beaches closeby, is it far to walk to nearest village/ town, would it be good idea to hire car for 2-3 days to see more of this side of the island. How much is taxi from airport to resort, could prob hire a car for a little more than the fare? Is there much of a beach in the resort, would I be able to put up parasol/umbrella for smallies to play under if too warm. All suggestions welcome…

    I love Costa Teguise.

There is stacks to do in the main part of the town, which is a five to ten minutes walk from the Sands. Come out of the sands, turn left and you will come to shops and bars, walk through these and you are on the seafront.

The best Irish bar is along the far end of the beach from where you will be, there is a group of shops and restaurants overlooking the beach on kind of a headland, there is a selection of English and Irish bars there, but they aren't all union jack shorts and Celtic jerseys, they are quite tasteful.

My favourite restaurant is La Vaca Loca. It is an Argentinian Steak restaurant. Come out of Sands, turn left and keep going past the Hyper Dino and it is on your left just past the square, next to a tattoo parlour. The BBQ is awesome.

The beach is excellent, plenty of beds etc but you can take your own.

It is under €25 for a taxi and I rented a Fiesta for €25 per day. Don't bother renting a car at the airport, you will hardly use it.

Would recommend the wildlife park if you have kids. You can get the bus, but I rented a car for a day.

The big Hyper Dino (next to Vero Moda) is the cheapest supermarket in the resort and general items, shampoo, shower gel etc are the same price as here.
