    Hi all,

I have a car on the way from Japan with EMS. It is due on 9th February.

However as a first timer I have no idea of the procedure for actually collecting the car and paying the VAT and Import Duty. I have tried to ask Dublin Port who have said it is nothing to do with them

What I am looking to know is
    1) How do I know where the car will be in the port and when to go down there
    2) What do I do then?

I presume it will arrive into a bonded yard from where it cannot be released until the VAT and duty are paid. The shipping agent will contact you.

Get in touch with MCC Brokers. Send the paperwork you got from Japan and they'll look after the car once it comes in, take care of all the paperwork and let you know how much you need to pay. I think their fee is €120ish for doing all this for you.

I would not let a car off the boat without ringing MCC ;) they will help you through everything, ive used them for every car ive brought it and tbh for the price i wouldnt do it without them. I hope you looked into all the costs involved before you purchased, if you dont mind me asking what did you buy?
