Copy and paste problem

Having a weird problem when I try to highlight text. Kinda hard to explain but it just won't hold, it keeps dropping.

For example, if I went to highlight a paragraph for example, it would do the first couple of lines maybe but when I move the mouse down, it will drop the highlighted area. It seems to be some sort of sensitivity issue.

It's only happening for the past couple of weeks - it also happens in excel and word and other programmes so it's nothing to do with my browser etc. In excel for example, when I try to drag to copy a formula down it just keeps dropping it.

    Any ideas?

If its a laptop, it may be a trackpad issue, try a USB mouse, or selection by keyboard.

oh thank christ it's not just me I thought maybe for a while I was loosing it (me mind):D

I've had very similar probs both on line sites and with excel. Thought it might be a virus but after clean up no joy.

With Adverts or Amazon when I try to copy the item title that is in bold the highlight just runs off it, damn pain.

Even trying to use the mouse and arrow keys to highlight is sometimes a bit better but still very slow.

Using a laptop but never use the touchpad at all.

Strangely enough, I've been told it might be a problem with my charger

Apparently, the wrong charger can affect some workings of the laptop. I don't have the wrong charger but my charger has been on the blink for a while (needs a good smack for it to work).

Sounds like one of the keys on the keyboard is stuck. Seen this a few times in the job.
Give every key a lil bash down and see if that cures it.

Please try the really easy procedure of reinstalling the mouse driver... it will cost you nothing and is a simple troubleshoot before you go jumping to wild conclusions and spending money!

    To reinstall the driver:

    Windows 7

    GoTo Start
Right Click Computer and select Properties
Click Device Manager on the Left
Click "Mice and other pointing devices"
Select the applicable one for your mouse
    Right click select uninstall
    Unplug your mouse
Replug and wait a second while driver reinstalls

    Try now.

If that doesnt solve it check ALL buttons on your keyboard and mouse for being stuck.. you could unplug your keyboard (obviously not an option on laptop) and try selecting text with your mouse and see does the issue occur etc...

PS the charger sounds like bull to me...

If it was the charger causing the issue then try doing it on battery power only and see how you go....

Thanks folks, tried all of the above but no joy.

Going to try another mouse later to see if it makes any difference.
