I have 50m2 of living space to refloor. I cant decide between solid, semi solid or laminate. I would like to keep to to the €35 per m2 mark or below. I like natural colour oak but also like some darker ones. Has anyone spotted any good deals you could pm me. Would i be waiting for delivery. Is B&Q OK to goto or can i do better (pm me on that one). Any tips generally would be much appreciated.

I always found b&q expensive for flooring . You can get semi solid oak for 16euro a meter , try brooks or there is a place in tallaght advertising in the buy and sell

    Hi mnb
Good value in brooks as already stated. go to www.brooksgroup.ie all prices are there, sale on at moment.
Solid hardwood: You have a solid board with a good wear layer thickness.
Semi solid engineered: you would only have approx 8mm wear layer surface.
Laminate: paper thin wear layer surface also very noisy.
solid wood woluld have a surface that could be sanded approx 5 times
Engineered could only be sanded 2 times.
laminate you canno sand. If its damaged you will need to lift and refit a new board.
    Good luck with the shopping.
NB. Employ a professional floor fitter. Not all carpenters no matter how good can fit flooring. It's a pro job. If you havee problems your floor could cost you a fortune. When problems occur, the first thing gets blamed is the floor. when you look at your floor it's perfect. If installed improperly it's the installers lack of knowledge.
a professional flooring contractor will do a site visit, check moisture content of your floor. Do a relstive humidity reading of room air and also a moisture content of the flooring before installation. All these reading are a MUST before installation of your floor is done. Ther are also a lot more things to take into consideration as well.
